<description>Do you think maybe I could find enough people in Lakewood interested enough to charter a bus? Oh, and do pigs fly?

Having heard Robert Brody speak twice on the subject I can tell you that he is claiming among other things that the anonymous Talmud (the stam) is not only not later than attributed Amoraic statements but they both might have been said by the same people, just sometimes they had their &quot;Amora/meimrah&quot; hat on and sometimes their &quot;stam/anonymous&quot; hat on. Also he emphasizes the shaklah vetaryah that we find between named Amoraim and not just the anonymous sections. He has some nuances to this but in general these seem to be his important points.

Interesting. Now that you mention it I recall seeing an article in Tarbiz (or somewhere) by Brody on this subject.

He is working on this topic a lot as of late and we will probably see a few articles about it from him. His paper from the World Congress of Jewish Studies this past summer will eventually be published in the proceedings and quite possibly on-line before that.
