Chained Jewish Books
I just received Simcha Emmanuel’s new book, Shivrei Luhot. I haven’t read much of it and I am sure that Manuscriptboy can speak with much more authority about than subject than me. One thing that is interesting is the cover of the book which features “chained books”, since as far as I know we have no evidence of Jewish chained books, the reason most likely being that there were really no Jewish libraries which had to worry about books being stolen from them. For an easily accessible discussion of this phenomenon one can read the very enjoyable The Book on the Bookshelf
I’ll have to settle for Simcha Emmanuel’s important book until I can afford a real chained one.
