Hanukkah Menorahs in McDonalds, Burger King and Jews in America

IMG_2066b.jpg

Some may remember my post about a person complaining that there was no menorah at McDonald’s. Not surprisingly, most of the letters-to-the-editor, which can be found here, thought that it was quite a ridiculous complaint. While not McDonald’s, one thing that my wife and I found interesting in Costa Rica was that there is a glatt kosher Burger King. Not that I am a fan of fast food, but it was a fun way to have dinner while on vacation, and also raised the question of why isn’t there one here in the US? It could be corporate policy or something related to that, or that no rabbinic supervisory agency would give their supervision to one. On that note, people may want to try and see the PBS series The Jewish Americans which begins tonight, Wednesday, on many PBS stations.
