Elections 2008-Just the Facts Ma’am
While I’ll try not to write too many election-related posts, whether they be the Israeli or American elections, I wanted to post some web sites which point out claims and comments by parties and candidates which range from misleading to blatant lies. As people think that Joe Friday from Dragnet said, “Just the Facts Ma’am.”
1. Fact Check from the Annenberg Public Policy Center is an excellent site.
2. The Washington Post has a blog Fact Checker.
3. The Obama campaign has a section of their web site devoted to fact checking the McCain campaign. I was unable to find a similar section on the McCain campaign web site.
4. I’ll show my partisan sympathies by linking to Same Facts, a web site which supports Obama. I was unable to find a similar web site devoted to fact checking that supported McCain.
5. Another political blog which occasionally fact checks is ABC’s Political Punch.
6. The best fact checker of them all is Jon Stewart.
7. Also see PolitiFact (thanks to YG for the reference).

AFAIAC, there is one ‘fact’ which supercedes all others; one candidate is qualified to be president while the other is not.

Also a good fact checker and exposer of bogosity is Brendan Nyhan at http://www.brendan-nyhan.com/. Nyhan is a liberal, but he’s scrupulously even-handed in his blog and has been savaged by lefties and righties alike. He was one of the people behind the no-longer-active and much-missed Spinsanity.com, which lives on in its archives.
