Lou Gehrig and Gnosticism
If you thought that A-Rod’s flirtation with Kabbalah was the first instance of a MLB player experimenting with the esoteric, you may be wrong. It turns out that Hans Jonas, the scholar of gnosticism, lived for many years in Lou Gehrig’s old house in New Rochelle, NY. Although as far as I know, the only contact between them may have been the old bicycle which Mrs. Jonas said that they found in the basement.
