Free Range Kids
Unrelated to the Essenes and the Dead Sea Scrolls, the always interesting blog Boing Boing has linked to a blog which discusses things a bit more down-to-Earth, kids and how we shouldn’t be so paranoid, although sometimes we probably should be, about what they eat, how they play, etc. For parents with kids under driving age go check out Free Range Kids. Maybe parents should start worrying more about their kids being allowed to wander and experiment a bit than chickens. This reminds me of something that one of my brothers pointed out to me, Nature Deficit Disorder. Our son has just gotten involved with a new Boy Scout troop in our neighborhood which will give him plenty of outdoors time. See here about Jewish Scouting. Of all the things that he is hoping to do as a Boy Scout, I think that shooting a gun is high on his list.
