Liturgical Litigation

Both Makor Rishon (2.12.2010) and Behadrei Hareidim have reports about an interesting class-action suit. Two brothers are suing a number of publishers of siddurim and mahzorim, charging that despite claims to the contrary, these siddurim and mahzorim do not contain all of the prayers used during the entire year. In addition, because of the way that prayers are presented, a person has to sometimes skip around and jump from one page to another, causing them to lose concentration and possibly to fall behind in their prayers. The two brothers are claiming 71,662,500 NIS ($19,116,220), an estimate of the amount of money spent on buying siddurim and mahzorim during the past seven years.

Update:  The court case has been thrown out.
