Bone Marrow Registry Drive for Matt Fenster
www.MattFensterCircle.org
Matt Fenster is a father of four young children, a husband, a son, and a brother. He is a friend to many. He has worked endlessly to help his community in Riverdale, NY and beyond. Now he needs our help. Matt was diagnosed with AML – Acute Myelogenous Leukemia – in April 2010. He now needs a bone marrow transplant to save his life and we are desperately searching for a marrow match for Matt.
Four opportunities to register as a potential bone marrow donor:
Thursday, May 13th from 2:30 to 8:30 P.M. at SAR Academy’s Blood Drive
Co-sponsored by The Zack Meller Foundation. Established in memory of Zack Meller z”l to increase awareness of the needs of chronically ill children and their families.
Sunday, May 16th from 9:00 A.M. to 5 P.M. at CSAIR
Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale – 475 West 250th Street, Bronx, NY
Sunday, May 16th from 10:00 A.M. to 3 P.M. at The Jewish Center

Volunteers Needed for All Drives:
Please email info-at-mattfenstercircle.org
All drives are coordinated by the Gift of Life Foundation and can save Matt’s life or another person in need of a match. Registration requires a simple cheek swab (Adults ages 18 and 60).
You can also make a contribution to the Matt Fenster Donor Circle to defray the costs of processing of the donor kits. Each donor kit costs $54 to process. The more kits collected and paid for the better chance we will have of finding a bone marrow match for Matt. If you cannot make any of the drives listed above, you can have a kit sent to you at home. Just go to www.mattfenstercircle.org for more information about this effort including how to make a contribution.
If you have already been tested please consider donating $54 to cover the cost of someone else’s test.

Thank you for posting this at your blog. I would like your readers to note that the drive on May 16th at the Jewish Center was originally set up for a 9-year-old girl named Sarah from Brookline, MA who also has leukemia. Sarah’s family graciously agreed to share the drive with us so that we can register as many people as possible and increase the likelihood of finding a match for Sarah, Matt and all of the others who need one. For more information about Sarah, you can go here: http://www.giftoflife.org/dc/Swab4Sarah/blog.aspx

The key to every successful drive are the people from within the community if you have already registered PLEASE do your part by spreading the word and encouraging your friends to get tested and making sure they tell their friends to do the same.
