Did you read the book? If so, do you reccomend it? Does it contain much information about the actual documents they found and how it changed scholarship? Or – as I suspect, coming from a female author in a speech sposnored by a women’s group in JTS – is it mostly a bunch of soft-pedalled feminsim about the two ladies who brought Dr. Shechter the documents?

The book is not sponsored by a “women’s group at JTS,” it happens to be taking place in the Women’s League Seminary Synagogue. Also, if you read carefully, you’d see that there are two authors, one male and one female. The male happens to be one of the most important scholars today in the field of medieval Hebrew poetry and literature. And if you are looking for a recommendation, Dr. Jeffrey Woolf said that it is a must read. See his review here.
