Amnon Levy-The Haredim
Amnon Levy is an Israeli journalist, both print and TV, who has written numerous articles and a book on the ultra-Orthodox in Israel. Last night Israel Channel 10 broadcast the second part of a three-part documentary on the ultra-Orthodox community. I thought that it was fairly well done. It emphasized both the diversity with ultra-Orthodoxy and the complexity of the relationship between the ultra-Orthodox and the State of Israel. Levy’s understanding is that the desire to protect and strengthen an ultra-Orthodox lifestyle is the driving force behind much of what happens in ultra-Orthodoxy and how they interact with the state. Below are the first two parts (Hebrew only). The third one will be about Hasidic courts.
