Danny Sanderson, who has been an important figure in Israeli music since the 1970’s, is 61 year old today. The first video is from his early days with Poogy. The second is a more recent one, a duet with Ninet Tayeb.
After watching the first video, I am reminded of what I miss from the music then. I was in college in the late 70s. Performers like Kaveret, Mati Caspi, Shalom Hanoch, Arik Einshtein, Yonatan Gefen, Yehudit Ravitz et al all remembered to have fun when they performed. They were skilled musicians. Lyrics often displayed their intelligence either with their depth and sensitivity; or their wit. I still think טובעים השנים מן האחד is one of the great puns of Israeli music. If you look at other videos from that time you can see time and again the humor and intelligence coupled with the great musical ability.

I think that you’re right. Either the radio announcer got it wrong, or I heard wrong. Thanks.
