Lost Bible: Ancient Jewish Writings Relating to Scripture

I received an email from the Jewish Publication Society asking for money to help fund the following project.

Lost Bible: Ancient Jewish Writings Relating to Scripture– Help us recover the lost library of ancient Israel. This 2-million word volume will bring together over 100 texts written by Jews during the period of the Second Temple (from the Apocrypha, Pseudepigrapha, the writings of Philo and others), translated into English and accompanied, for the first time, by a Jewish commentary. This monumental anthology, the product of an international team of over 70 scholars, sheds new light on the history of both Judaism and Christianity.

I haven’t been able to find any details about this project. Is everything is going to be translated anew, or are they emphasizing the commentary and using already existing translations? [Correction:] I guess that this might be similar to Jewish Study Bible. It looks interesting.

    Iyov:

A small nitpick: The Jewish Study Bible was a project of Oxford University Press — and used materials from the (ecumenical, Christian-oriented, NRSV-based) New Oxford Annotated Bible (although I agree with your implicit suggestion that the Jewish Study Bible is a “JPS-style” book.)

Thanks for your correction. I do have it and I guess I was remembering that they used the JPS translation.
