New Book-A Window Into the Responsa Literature

Shmuel Glick, the editor of the Kuntress ha-Teshuvot he-Ḥawash, has published Eshnav le-Sifrut ha-Teshuvot (A Window Into the Responsa Literature). The book is available from the Schocken Institute in Israel.

    Where does the word “eshnav” (translated as “window”) come from?

    See Judges 5:28 and Proverbs 7:6. According to Even Shoshan some scholars think that it is a corruption of the root Nun-Shin-Bet.

    It apparently hasn’t actually come out, although their website says that it is available. I was in touch with them and they said that it will be available in a few more weeks.
