New Responsa from the CJLS-June 2012
The Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Conservative Movement met this week. Most people are speaking about the responsum on same-sex marriage, but there were a number of other ones that were voted upon. I will update the links as they become available.
“Rituals and Documents of Marriage and Divorce for Same-Sex Couples,” from Rabbis Elliot Dorff, Daniel Nevins, and Avram Reisner (here).
”The Use of Electrical and Electronic Devices on Shabbat,” from Rabbi Daniel Nevins (here). I haven’t read this final version, but I did read one of the earlier drafts and I thank Rabbi Nevins for including some of my comments in the endnotes.
“Ana Ger Ana,” from Rabbi Joseph Prouser (here). This is somewhat of a response to Rabbi Michael Broyde’s responsum on converts serving on batei din for conversion.
“The Non-fasting Shaliah Tzibbur on Yom Kippur,” from Rabbi Gail Labovitz (here).

A halachic kesuvah for homosexuals, for goodness sake. To be followed with a “paper” on the correct beracha to recite on cheeseburgers, perhaps? MM – this whole enterprise is a geleichter.
