Prof. Menachem Elon z”l
Prof. Menachem Elon, one of the most influential and important scholars of the modern study of Jewish law has passed away. Elon was a former Deputy Chief Justice of the Israeli Supreme Court and the author of many works of scholarship, most notably Ha-Mishpat ha-Ivri, which was published in English as Jewish Law: History, Sources, Principles. יהי זכרו ברוך.

Today’s installment of “chakira negdit” had a very nice 10 minute discussion of Elon’s lasting contribution as a judge. If I remember after work I’ll upload an “on demand” link to it.
