Question about a responsum of the Rambam

I am preparing a responsum of the Rambam for a class that I am teaching and am quite perplexed about something. The responsum is no. 148 in ed. Blau. When I look at the responsum as it appears in the Bar-Ilan Responsa Project there are a number of notes which are inserted into the text which aren’t found in the Blau edition, specifically the long note which begins after “כמו שנתבאר בברייתא”. Does anybody know where this note is from? Is it from a different edition of Blau than what I have? At the end of the note is “Y. Levinger“, did Bar-Ilan have him add more notes? Thanks for any help.

There is an edition of the Responsa of the Rambam entitled “Pe’er ha-Dor” edited by R. David Yosef (son of R. Ovadia Yosef).
    See JTS catalog at BM522.7 .M321 1984.

I checked it and the note is not from him. I guess that Y. Levinger must have written additional notes.

Are these not notes from the Blau Edition? My version has notes at the bottom and they are identical to the ones on the CD

There is a very long note after “כמו שנתבאר בברייתא” which explains that it is really from “mishnat rabbi eliezer” and that one should look in the Enelau edition. It then continues “ויש להביא כאן דבר נפלא”. I have version 13-plus.

i see what you mean. I just copied it and printed it out. and will look at it over shabbat. I use Spertus and they have version 14 but it is the same here.

The additional note is very helpful I was just unaware that Bar-Ilan may have added notes that weren’t in previous additions.

Volume 3 of Blau’s edition has additional notes on the first two volumes. The note signed by Levinger appears in that volume and the rest of the note appears later in the third volume in the section of Shraga Abramson’s notes.

Thanks. I actually looked there for the comment. Shows you how well I can find my way around a book.
