“Rabbis & Rebbes – Artists & Intellectuals” at YIVO
On Sunday, March 8, there will be a conference at YIVO sponsored by YIVO and Touro College, Rabbis & Rebbes – Artists & Intellectuals. Admission is free but reservations are suggested. Here is the program.
———–
The conference will focus on major areas of Jewish creativity in modern Eastern Europe. While certain topics such as Hasidism and Jewish Haskalah have been dealt with extensively by scholars, there has been relatively little discussion of the varieties of rabbinic, intellectual and artistic activity. We will examine these activities in three panels, in which the invited scholars will engage in animated discussion, moderated by the chair of each panel.
