Shamma Friedman Wins the Israel Prize

My friend MS has just emailed me that Talmud scholar Prof. Shamma Friedman will be awarded the Israel Prize this coming Independence Day. Here is an article from Srugim (H) on Prof. Friedman receiving the prize. It is an honor well-deserved. Mazal Tov and Yishar Koach.

Are you sure his son did not actually win the award?

MM, are you able to link to anything particularly good exemplars of Dr. Friedman’s scholarship? I’ve seen some things from him I thought were good, and I even cited him once in an article of mine on the Rashbam. I think it was from something called “Five Sugyot.” (I could be wrong about that.) On the other hand, I’ve seen things I thought were rather…. not as good. I would like to get a better grasp of the man and his contributions.

    DF,

Set up a free account at academia.edu and you can see almost all of his articles here: https://jtsa.academia.edu/ShammaFriedman

Thank you, that’s a good idea.
