Shanah Tovah 5770
I wish everyone a שנה טובה. I am surprised that I haven’t heard more about the numerical significance of this year, (5)770. Who knows, maybe this year will be the big one. Then again, in Hebrew it is תש”ע, maybe something is in the cards for יש”ע. Then again, maybe we should be focusing on the number nine, תשע. Maybe we need to consult the surviving Beatles about this one, Number 9, Number 9…Did you know that Og the King of Bashan’s couch was nine cubits long (Deut. 3:11), or that Hoshea son of Elah was king of Samaria for nine years (2 Kings 7:1). Also, in the ninth year of Hoshea’s reign Samaria was captured (2 Kings 18:10).
