The Sages, vol. 2
The second volume of the English edition of Binyamin Lau’s The Sages is now available. I have all four volumes of the Hebrew edition and I highly recommend it. For some comments about the fourth volume of the Hebrew edition, see this (H) post by Rav Tzair.

R Benyamin Lau is an outstanding writer. A few years ago, in one of his weekly dvar torah articles, he recounted a tale involving two rabbis out for a stroll. The tale ended on the note of one of the rabbi’s eyes blazing, somehow in connection with the Holocaust. I wish I could remember proper details, so as to look for it. He ended his coloumn that week with the end of the story itself, without any further commentary. It’s a wonderful rhetorical device when used properly.
