Yonatan Razel
On Saturday night Israel Channel Two News had a segment about the religious singer Yonatan Razel. Yonatan is a very talented singer who manages to both learn in a kollel and compose and perform songs that appeal to large numbers of Israelis. He was originally trained in classical music and has won numerous awards from both religious and non-religious sources.
The segment is entirely in Hebrew and non-Hebrew speakers can still enjoy the music.

I have been following him and missed this interview. Thanks for posting it.

Anne,
I haven’t really heard so much of his music, but I happen to see the interview and liked it a lot. I especially liked the part where his mother told about how the kids grew up listening to Bob Dylan and the Beatles, and Yonatan adds Frank Sinatra.

I know it’s too long for now, but when Yossi Klein Halevi was here to speak to the Boston area rabbis leading the Engaging Israel project from Shalom Hartman, he mentioned that he had been doing this presentation a couple of places and I found it – of course – on Youtube.
Happy Hanukkah, Anne

It looks very interesting. I read an article by him which was probably similar to this talk.
